On life
meaning: “You have to accept whatever comes and the
only important thing is that you meet it with courage and
with the best you have to give”. - Eleanor Roosevelt
During the Thanksgiving season we distributed a combination of 350 turkey coupons,
frozen turkeys, baskets, gift certificates, dinners, etc. helping many
who otherwise would not have a special dinner for the holiday. A very special
thanks to the following organizations, schools and individuals for believing
in Trocaire and helping us fight hunger in our community:
• Lions
Club for delivering Thanksgiving baskets
• Rotary of Huntington for food drive and donation
• Rotary of Melville for turkey baskets
• Cub Scouts for food donation
• Finley Middle School for food drive
• Ancient Order of Hibernians for their food drive
• La Viola for free Thanksgiving dinners for our homebound.
• Drivers who delivered the Thanksgiving dinners on
Thanksgiving morning.
• Crest Hollow Country Club for hams and their endless supply of food
• St. Patrick’s School for their food drive
• Southdown Food Market for their food donation
• Coordinators and volunteers for their time and effort
• Parishioners and non-parishioners for their generosity
FRIENDLY
VISITORS: Anyone need a ride to church? We have
a woman who lives near Trocaire who will drive someone
to church. Call the office and ask for Alberta.
MEALS
AT HOME: During the cold weather, many of our neighbors
find it more difficult to shop or socialize. Our Meals at
Home program is designed to provide easily prepared meals
while at the same time offer volunteer visits. If you or any
of your neighbors could use this service, please call the
office and ask for Bob Hassett.
THRIFT
SHOP: Come and get the bargains!
